Who it suits

Skippered — same yacht, no licence.

You bring the holiday — the captain brings the certifications, the local knowledge, and the helm time. Take the wheel any time the captain says go.

No experience

Licence

No licence required

Captain provided — they hold ICC, RYA Day Skipper or equivalent + VHF.

  • Mixed-experience groups where the licensed sailor wants a break

Skippered

What's in the price — and what isn't.

Skippered means the boat plus a professional captain. You add the captain's daily food/drink and any port fees they incur on your behalf.

What's in the price

  • The yacht for the booked week

  • Professional captain (ICC + VHF + local experience)

Captain sleeps in a small skipper cabin — not your space.

  • Full insurance (hull + 3rd party)

  • Standard equipment + linens + galley kit

  • Dinghy + outboard

  • Final cleaning

Pay on top

  • Captain's daily allowance

€25-€35 / day for the captain's food. They eat what you eat unless agreed.

  • Fuel + water

    Budget €150-€400 / wk.

  • Marina + mooring

~€80-€180 per night in popular marinas.

  • Tourist tax

    €1.50-€2 per person per night.

  • Optional extras

    SUP, hostess, end-of-week transfer.

  • Provisioning

You buy your own food / drink.

All prices in EUR. Captain rate varies by region — €1,200-€1,800 / wk typical.

Why skippered

The captain is the local cheat code.

A good skipper has been in these waters for years. They know which anchorages turn rolly when the wind goes north. They know the konoba that does the best peka. They know which marina has the cheapest fuel and which one waves you in without a reservation. You pay for the helm time; you get a private guide.

Skippered questions

Asked and answered.

Where does the captain sleep?
On most boats there's a small skipper cabin (single berth in bow or stern). On smaller boats they sleep in the saloon. They never use a guest cabin unless invited.
Can I take the wheel?
Yes — as much as you want, with the captain's OK. They'll let you steer, anchor, even dock if you're up for it. Easiest way to learn without committing to a course.
What does the captain do all day?
Navigates, runs the boat's systems, handles marina paperwork + fuel, briefs you on the day ahead. Off-watch they'll happily join the crew for dinner if invited.
Does the captain pick the itinerary?
You do. The captain offers options, you decide. They'll push back if you ask for something dangerous (e.g. a 35-knot day) — but otherwise the week is yours.
Can I bring my own captain?
Yes — they must be ICC-equivalent + VHF and known to the operator. Send us their CV.
